Colin's Big Win
When unemployed twenty nine year old Colin Baylis won the lottery his innumeracy was a problem, added to the fact that he had little concept of value. As a consequence he was easy prey to fraudsters especially pretty educated Penny Giles who whisked him off to Spain in a blitz of sex drugs and alcohol and persuaded him that he had bought a luxury villa.
When a formerly rich family now fallen on hard times rented the Spanish house that Colin believed he owned their visit coincided with one by Colin’s mother, the ensuing confusion laid bare the insecurities of both women. Working class Kerry and middle class Maureen came into conflict but after discovering that their roles were reversed they found that they were far more alike than either could possibly have imagined.
Back home with a quarter of his winnings still intact Colin’s father came out of prison with a promise to manage the rest of Colin’s money, but his ideas of investment seem to carry an unreasonably high risk.
There was nothing Jason would not do to get his hands on Colin's every last penny. For all his apparent misfortune Colin's real win is what he is left with.
